Building a website is really just the start of your company’s online marketing program. It’s what your website ‘says’ that really completes your internet marketing effort.

To help develop the best online marketing strategy, you have to get your visitors to respond to your marketing efforts. That means they have to read past the headlines.

Good online marketing starts with good headlines. If you’re looking for good examples of headlines, look no further than the the direct response advertising and marketing industry for help. They are the masters of using headlines for business marketing and they live or die by getting a response. They provide and excellent example of how to use headlines.

Likewise, magazines are ‘headline artists’ because it’s the headline that sells the magazine. In either case, you can follow their lead to help develop your online marketing strategy. That means you must start with creating the good headlines that work.

When you create effective headlines, you get your visitor to ‘take action’. It’s the headline that will get your website visitor to abandon their ‘click-happy’ surfing long enough to read the headline.

Your Marketing must also be emotional:
Finally, when developing your online marketing strategy and headlines, they must cater to the emotion of the reader. When you involve the visitor’s emotion, you will captivate them and nudge them on to read every word of your copy.

That means your headline must create a situation that your visitor can easily relate to. Consider grabbing their attention when you inject words like “Imagine the freedom when...”. You instantly get the visitor to start ‘painting a picture’ in their mind because you’ve touched an emotion.

There are a variety of ‘triggers’ that attract the readers attention and speak to their emotions. Depending on your particular target market and online product or service, you may consider some of the following:
